Voter ID headed for the ballot on November 6th?
Governing is a process, albeit an ugly, contentious and sometimes silly process; but it is a process. In that process, sometimes great ideas become “watered” down and “lost”. Who can argue with the idea that we need to preserve one of our most basic rights–the right to vote? It is what we hold close and dearly. As I travel and listen to people, the issue of voter id is a contentious issue.
At the core, the amendment will simply require people to prove who they are at the polls before their vote can be counted. As long as this process is simple and doesn’t create any unnecessary expense or government interaction, it should be a “no brainer” issue. I just hope our legislators don’t complicate it with provisions so that it won’t be a simple issue anymore.
